The Posthumous Aural

2021

prints on synthetic skin, steel plates, human ash, ink, tattoo machine, power amplifier, piezoelectric microphones, sound performance, 15’

The Posthumous Aural is an installation and performance that explores the link between the transformation of human remains and the economy of death through aural space. The vibrations of non-living matter occupy a conjectural space of mourning, signalled by the absence of language. Revisiting the figure of the Spanish plañidera, The Posthumous Aural is a sonic act of inquiry into the material and cultural representations of the body-object, as well as the necropolitical and spatial consequences of its accelerated conversion into a commodity.
